1tablespoongranulated sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
1pinchsalt
1teaspoonfresh lemon juice
Instructions
Begin by preheating your air fryer to a temperature of 160°F (70°C). This should take about 5 minutes, ensuring optimal cooking conditions for your apple chips.
While the air fryer is warming up, take your apples and rinse them thoroughly under running water. After washing, pat them dry with a clean towel. Next, core the apples and slice them thinly, aiming for slices that are approximately 1/8 inch thick.
In a mixing bowl, combine the thin apple slices with the lemon juice, ground cinnamon, granulated sugar (if using), and a pinch of salt. Gently toss everything together until all the apple slices are evenly coated with the seasonings.
Carefully arrange the coated apple slices in a single layer within the air fryer basket. It's important to avoid overlapping the slices; this may require frying them in batches depending on your air fryer's capacity.
Set the air fryer to cook the apple slices at 160°F (70°C) for a duration of 10 to 15 minutes. Keep a close eye on them, checking for a crispy texture and flipping the slices halfway through the cooking time.
After the air fryer signals completion, carefully remove the apple chips and place them on a wire rack to cool for a few minutes.
Once the apple chips have cooled completely, transfer them to an airtight container to keep them fresh and crispy for later enjoyment.
Notes
Adjust sugar to taste; ensure apple slices are thin for optimal crispness.
